Pastor Harmon is preaching a series of sermons on the Apostle Paul's "Epistle of Joy" (Philippians).
The over-riding theme of Philippians is: JOY. It is the theme found in every chapter of the book. It is mentioned a dozen times in this brief letter. As we study the background of both the author of this letter and the church who received it, we will learn it is JOY "in spite of. . ."; JOY in spite of circumstances, trouble, or pain. The Apostle Paul's radiant JOY in spite of hardship reveals his discovery of what Reuben Welch calls "a wonderful, open secret of strength." It is the secret of total dependnce on Jesus Christ.
